What: The Manchester Artists’ Bonfire is an annual art incineration which provides a platform for a collective research project on art and/or activism. Manchester artists’ discuss their positions as artists and relationships to their work at a time when art is being re evaluated in economic terms.

Fire can symbolise many things to many people. In our recent history it has been prevalent at strikes, protests, riots and occupations. It bonds people in dissatisfaction, celebration and discussion.

When submitting a pledge the surrounding themes outlined in the ‘about’ section can be brought into consideration or not. There are no restrictions on what can be said or burned or who say or burn it.The written pledges will build the context for which the art is collectively burned.
